The hinterland
Would you like to discover the many facets of the Charente-Maritime region during a stay at the St-Tro’Park campsite in Oléron? La Palmyre Zoo and the Royannais region
Nestled in the heart of an 18-hectare pine forest, La Palmyre Zoo in Les Mathes is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Charente-Maritime region. Here, you’ll discover over 1,600 birds, primates, carnivores, ungulates, marine mammals and reptiles, representing 110 different species.
After visiting the zoo, head further south to discover the Royan region, with its harbours, wide beach and the departure point for boats on the crossing to Le Verdon in Gironde.

Visit Rochefort and the Corderie Royale
Not far from the Ile d’Oléron is the town of Rochefort. It was here that the famous ship L’Hermione was rebuilt, and has been sailing the oceans ever since she was rebuilt.
You won’t want to miss the corderie royale, the long building used to make ropes for ships.
