Sites to visit in the off-season

Why travel in the off-season? Very often, just before or just after the summer season, many tourist sites are open. Take advantage of these moments away from the crowds to discover the architectural and natural heritage of the island known as “La Lumineuse”. The charm of the oyster-farming villages of La Cotinière, Château d’Oléron, Boyardville, Saint-Georges-d’Oléron, Grand-Village and Petit-Village… is not to be missed. Discover the saltworks at Petit-Village and learn about salt production. On your camping vacation, when you cross the bridge over the Ile d’Oléron, be sure to stop off at Fort-Louvois. This incredible fortress, Fort-Boyard‘s little sister, is full of surprises! A must-see for the whole family.

Nature walks to organize

What if the Ile d’Oléron were a paradise for cycling? From Saint-Denis d’Oléron to Saint-Trojan-les-Bains, get on your two wheels and explore the island’s 160 kilometers of cycle paths. Do you prefer sea or marsh walks? No problem! Try your hand at bodyboarding, surfing, paddling or canoeing. Many schools are open until the All Saints’ vacation. Or simply explore the Marais aux oiseaux. This 130-hectare park is home to over 600 different species of birds, all of which will amaze your children.
